Since When Is Easter About Hiding Eggs? Not Just A Religious Holiday?

The holiday known as Easter is when Christians celebrate the rising of Jesus Christ from the grave. However, Easter is also when many families get together to decorate and hide eggs. How did these two concepts come to be known as the same holiday? There are many theories but one thing’s for sure, whether you’re Christian or not, Easter is a great time to celebrate with family and it’s a time to reconnect with relationships that may have gone stale throughout your life.

Easter Is When Jesus Rose From The Dead

In the bible, Jesus rose from the dead on Easter. That is what Christians believe and every Easter they gather at church to celebrate this joyous occasion. There are others, however, who know nothing of Jesus’ amazing resurrection. To them, Easter is when you decorate eggs with different colored food colorings. Then, you hide these eggs and have what is called an Easter egg hunt. This is usually done in one of two ways. Either real, decorated eggs are used or plastic eggs are used where you can hide things inside such as candy or money. This is great for the kids while the adults get together and celebrate being part of the family.

Whether you’re Christian or not, Easter is when family gets together. That’s what it should be about. You should always be thankful that you are part of a family and it doesn’t matter if it’s a holiday or not, you should always get together with your family every chance you get.

Whether You’re Religious Or Not

Even if you’re not religious, you can still celebrate Easter. Just like non-religious people celebrate Christmas, non-religious people can still celebrate Easter and they can make Easter the time to get together with family for a reunion packed with fun, games and candy giveaways. For Easter is also when people give each other candy. They’ll get big baskets and fill them bunny shaped chocolates and egg shaped chocolates in keeping with the Easter bunny theme.

So, no matter your reason, celebrate Easter and make it what you wish. Easter is when people get together and celebrate life, love and family and that should be the point of any holiday.
