All About Toxic Mold

Molds thrive in conditions that are humid and have enough moisture to help them survive. They also need a source of food which can be any organic matter. In some buildings that may have had a water problem previously, they could have a sudden outbreak of mold when the humidity hits a right temperature for them to grow. Sometimes, it takes a few months or more for molds to grow. Sometimes, they become dormant and then grow again as the humidity hits the right temperature for them to grow. This is why some buildings may not have any immediate mold problem after a water immersion but when it grows hot enough for the molds to grow they pop out even if the water immersion happened sometime ago.

Toxic Mold

Toxic mold is the term used for the types of mold that produces the deadly toxin, mycotoxin. This is their defecatory excretions that have a deadly effect on both animals and humans. The mycotoxins that mold produce do not degrade easily or at all and this can be handed down from the livestock that ate them to us who will eat the livestock.

Toxic mold can contaminate the corn or other forms of feeds that are given to the livestock and poultry which are raised for human consumption. Some animals may die immediately after ingesting the toxic mold but others may be on the way to the slaughterhouse as they eat the toxic mold. As their meat is prepared for our consumption, we get to ingest the mycotoxins as well since these products of the toxic mold do not degenerate even after cooking.

How To Stop A Mold Problem

Mold usually grow where there is moisture or water, this is the first thing that people should eliminate to start solving their mold problem, the water. After the source of the moisture is removed, you can them proceed to try to remove the mold growth. You should be careful trying to remove the growth since this may be toxic mold and ingestion or inhalation may be deadly for all living things. The best thing to do is to first try to admit sunlight and proper ventilation into the site of the mold growth. If the growth is not substantial you can try to get rid of it yourself but a bigger growth or colony may need the help of professionals. Ordinary bathroom or household cleansers may also be used to cleanup the growth.
